Florida: Day 5

Today was another action-packed day. We got up and headed out early for the Naples Zoo so we could get there and try to see what we wanted to before it got too hot. When we first pulled up, we weren't real sure what to think. From the outside it looks sort of like one of those petting zoo places at the MN State Fair. So we entered not expecting a whole lot. But, looks can be deceiving...the zoo was GREAT!

I have to back up – one of the kids favorite parts of the zoo were the ducks and turtles at the pond by the parking lot. The ducks were tame and would walk right up to you. Peyton even got to pet one! Carson wasn't so sure about petting them...mostly because I told him to watch out so the ducks didn't snatch his chapstick out of his hand (notice him clutching it tightly in the first picture). Yes, we have purchased a new tube of chapstick for him since we lost his other one overboard into the duck pond at Grandma & Grandpa's condo. Anyway, here are a few pics of the kids with the ducks.






Inside the zoo we saw all kinds of animals - everything from lions & tigers, antelope, lots of exotic birds, wild pigs, panthers, alligators & crocodiles, lots of monkeys and other primates, zebras, porcupines...you name it, we probably saw it. There were also some really great kids play areas. We lasted a little over 3 hours, which is pretty good considering it was scorching hot! Here are some pictures we took at the zoo.











Once we got back from the zoo the kids hung out with Grandma while we ran up and got special treats from Sonic...CHERRY LIMEADES!! Peyton wasn't too sure what to think of them, but Carson guzzled his. After we had our special treat we went down to the pool for a while to swim.

Tonight Chad and I are heading out to see a movie while Grandma & Grandpa babysit. Our first date since January!! Yay! Hopefully getting the kids down for bed won't be too difficult for them. :)

Tomorrow we're heading back to the beach...the weather's supposed to be beautiful once again!
